Possible Causes
Stuck ice level arm, Faulty infrared ice level sensor, Disconnected bin sensor harness, Obstruction in ice chute triggering full signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before reaching into the ice bin or sensor area.
- Check mechanical arm (if equipped): Some Gorenje models use a mechanical shutoff arm. Ensure it moves freely up and down and is not jammed by ice or packaging.
- Inspect optical sensors: For models with infrared sensors, clean the emitter and receiver windows with a soft, dry cloth to remove frost or mineral film.
- Clear ice chute: Remove any clumped ice blocking the chute or bin entrance that might reflect the sensor beam.
- Verify wiring: Follow the sensor wires to the control board and ensure all connectors are fully seated.
- Test sensor: If possible, use the diagnostic mode (see service manual) to check sensor status while manually blocking/unblocking the beam or moving the arm. Replace the sensor assembly if it does not change state.
- Replace bin sensor: Install a new ice level sensor or arm switch if faulty, then restore power and confirm that the unit resumes ice production.
