Possible Causes
Incorrect defrost timing from PCB, Faulty cycle timer circuit, Sticking relay controlling harvest heater, Software fault in control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the control board.
- Reset control: Unplug the ice maker for at least 5 minutes to allow the control to fully reset, then reconnect and observe operation.
- Check sensors first: Verify that evaporator and thickness sensors (E4/E5 related) are functioning correctly, as bad inputs can cause timing errors.
- Inspect relays: On the main PCB, look for relays with heat discoloration or cracked solder joints. Resolder or replace the board if necessary.
- Update or replace PCB: If E18 persists and all sensors and loads are good, the control logic may be faulty. Replace the main control PCB with the correct Gorenje part.
