Unit powers on but displays E3 and does not cool; compressor does not start or stops quickly.

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker. Allow the compressor area to cool before touching components.

• Access compressor compartment: Remove the rear lower panel to expose the compressor, start relay, and overload protector.
• Inspect wiring: Check for burnt connectors, loose spade terminals, or melted insulation on the compressor harness. Repair or replace damaged connectors.
• Test start relay and overload: Remove the relay/overload assembly from the compressor terminals. Use a multimeter to check continuity according to Gorenje specs. Replace if open, rattling, or visibly burnt.
• Check compressor windings: With the relay removed, measure resistance between the compressor terminals (C, S, R). Look for open circuits or direct shorts to ground. If windings are out of spec, the compressor is likely failed.
• Reassemble and test: Install a new OEM start relay/overload kit if faulty. Reconnect wiring, restore power, and monitor if the compressor starts and E3 clears.
• Call a professional: If the compressor itself is defective, replacement requires refrigerant recovery and recharging; contact a certified refrigeration technician.
