Possible Causes
Failed condenser NTC sensor, Blocked condenser coil causing overheat, Condenser fan not running, Sensor harness damage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker and allow it to cool before servicing the rear compartment.
- Clean condenser coil: Remove the rear panel and use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint from the condenser fins. Ensure good airflow.
- Check condenser fan: Spin the fan blade by hand; it should move freely. If stiff or noisy, the fan motor may be failing. Confirm the fan runs when the unit is powered (for qualified persons only).
- Locate condenser sensor: The NTC is usually clipped to the condenser tubing or nearby bracket. Inspect for secure mounting and intact wiring.
- Test sensor: Disconnect and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to Gorenje's NTC chart. Replace if open, shorted, or out of range.
- Improve ventilation: Ensure the ice maker has the recommended clearance around it and is not installed in a confined, hot cabinet.
- Replace faulty parts: Install a new condenser sensor or fan motor if defective, then restore power and verify that E9 does not return.
