Possible Causes
Clogged internal drain hose, Blocked external drain line or air gap, Failed Grundig drain pump motor (on pumped models), Kinked drain hose behind unit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before working near water and electrical components.
Steps to check:
- Inspect drain hose routing: Ensure the drain hose has a continuous downward slope with no kinks or loops that can trap water.
- Clear external drain: Disconnect the hose from the household drain or floor drain. Flush it with warm water and a small brush if needed to remove slime or scale.
- Check internal sump: Remove the lower front panel or interior cover to access the sump area. Clean out any ice chips, food debris, or scale blocking the drain opening.
- Test drain pump (if fitted): On pumped-drain Grundig models, listen for the pump during the drain phase. If it hums but does not move water, the impeller may be jammed. Remove the pump, clear any obstruction, and retest. If silent and receiving power, replace the pump.
Note: Always re-secure hose clamps and check for leaks after reassembly.
