Door Switch or Bin Switch Failure
Ice maker shows a door or bin switch error, unit will not start cycle with door closed

Possible Causes
Faulty magnetic door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken bin presence switch, Damaged switch wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing switches or control wiring.
Steps to check:
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and the gasket is not obstructing the latch area. A partially open door will prevent operation.
- Locate door switch: On many Grundig models, a small reed switch is mounted in the cabinet frame and a magnet in the door. Verify the magnet is still in place and not loose.
- Test switch continuity: With the unit unplugged, remove the inner trim to access the switch. Use a multimeter to test continuity while opening and closing the door. Replace the switch if it does not change state.
- Check bin switch: Some models have a bin-in-place switch. Remove the bin and inspect the switch lever or sensor. Make sure it is not broken or jammed with ice.
Note: After replacing a switch, secure all wiring away from moving parts and sharp edges.
