Possible Causes
Blocked condenser coil, Failed condenser fan, Ambient temperature too high, Faulty high-temperature sensor or thermal cut-out
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool before touching the compressor or condenser area.
Steps to check:
- Check installation: Ensure the ice maker has adequate ventilation around the sides and rear. Do not enclose it tightly in cabinetry without proper airflow.
- Clean condenser: Remove the rear panel and use a soft brush or vacuum to remove dust and lint from the condenser coil.
- Verify fan operation: Confirm the condenser fan runs whenever the compressor is on. Replace the fan motor if it does not operate.
- Inspect thermal sensor: Locate the high-temperature sensor or thermal cut-out near the compressor. Check for loose mounting or damaged wiring. Replace if it trips prematurely according to Grundig specifications.
Note: After correcting airflow issues, allow the unit to cool for at least 30 minutes before restarting.
