Possible Causes

Failed ambient temperature sensor, Loose or corroded sensor connector on main PCB, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Main control board input fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker from power before opening any panels. Do not work on the unit while it is energized.

Steps to check and correct:

  • Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5 minutes, then plug back in and see if E0 clears. Temporary glitches can trigger sensor errors.
  • Locate the ambient sensor: On most Haier ice makers, the ambient (room) temperature sensor is a small thermistor clipped near the air intake or mounted on the cabinet wall inside the machine compartment. Access it by removing the rear or side service panel.
  • Inspect wiring and connector: Check the sensor’s two-wire harness from the sensor to the main control board. Look for pinched, cut, or melted insulation. Reseat the connector on the PCB and ensure pins are not bent or corroded.
  • Check sensor resistance: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to Haier’s service chart (typically 5–20 kΩ at room temperature). If it reads open (OL) or 0 Ω, the sensor is defective.
  • Replace if faulty: If resistance is out of spec, replace the ambient temperature sensor with a Haier-compatible thermistor. Route the new harness away from hot components and secure with cable ties.
  • Control board check: If a known-good sensor still gives E0, the main control board’s sensor input may be defective. Inspect the board for burn marks or swollen components. Board replacement is recommended if damage is visible or E0 persists.

When to call a technician: If you are not comfortable using a multimeter or accessing internal wiring, or if a new sensor does not clear the error, contact a qualified appliance technician.
