Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker and close the water supply valve before servicing the water system.
Steps to troubleshoot:
- Verify water supply: Ensure the household shutoff valve to the ice maker is fully open. Check that other fixtures on the same line have normal pressure.
- Inspect inlet hose: Look for kinks, sharp bends, or crushing in the water supply hose. Straighten or replace the hose if damaged.
- Clean inlet screen: Disconnect the hose from the ice maker’s water inlet valve. Inside the valve fitting there is usually a small mesh screen. Remove debris with a soft brush and rinse under running water.
- Check for leaks: Reconnect the hose securely and slowly open the shutoff valve. Inspect for drips at the connection and tighten if needed.
- Test the inlet valve coil: With the unit unplugged, access the water inlet valve assembly. Disconnect the electrical connector and measure coil resistance with a multimeter. Compare to Haier specifications (often 200–500 Ω). Replace the valve if the coil is open or shorted.
- Reset and test: Restore power and water, then run a test cycle. If E1 persists with good water pressure and a new valve, the main control board may not be energizing the valve correctly.
When to call a technician: If you suspect a control board failure or are uncomfortable working with plumbing connections, seek professional service.
