Possible Causes
Empty water tank, Mis-seated water reservoir, Faulty low-water float switch, Scale buildup on water level sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing covers or working inside the reservoir.
Steps to resolve:
- Refill reservoir: Open the lid and fill the water tank to the indicated MAX line with clean, potable water.
- Check reservoir seating: On models with removable tanks, ensure the tank is fully seated and the valve at the bottom opens properly.
- Clean float or sensor: If P1 persists with a full tank, remove and clean the float or electronic sensor with warm water and mild vinegar to remove scale.
- Test float switch: For mechanical floats, test continuity while moving the float. Replace if it does not switch.
- Reset unit: Plug the unit back in and press the power button to clear P1.
When to call a technician: If the sensor or float tests good but P1 remains, the control board may be faulty and require service.
