Possible Causes
Defective water inlet valve coil, Clogged inlet valve filter screen, Kinked or closed water supply line, Faulty water level sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Hansa ice maker and close the water supply valve before working on any water components.
- Check external water supply: Verify the household water valve feeding the ice maker is fully open. Inspect the supply hose for kinks, crushing, or freezing. Straighten or thaw as needed.
- Clean inlet screen: Disconnect the water line from the rear water inlet valve. Remove and rinse the small mesh filter screen inside the valve using a soft brush. Reinstall and reconnect the line securely.
- Test water inlet valve: With power restored briefly, listen for a click or hum from the valve when the unit should be filling. If silent or very hot to the touch, the coil may be open or shorted and the valve should be replaced.
- Inspect water level sensor: On models with a float or electronic level sensor in the reservoir, check for mineral buildup or debris preventing movement or proper sensing. Clean gently with warm water and a soft cloth.
- Replace valve if needed: If the valve coil is open (no continuity) or stuck, replace the complete water inlet valve assembly with a compatible Hansa part.
