Possible Causes
Shorted compressor winding, Shorted fan motor, Damaged wiring harness causing short to chassis, Faulty control board triac or relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit immediately. Do not continue to reset and run the ice maker until the fault is found.
- Visual wiring inspection: Remove access panels and inspect wiring harnesses for melted insulation, pinch points, or contact with sharp metal edges. Repair or replace damaged sections.
- Isolate loads: Disconnect the condenser fan and attempt a test (with caution) to see if E16 changes. Repeat with compressor start components disconnected as guided by a service manual.
- Motor tests: Measure resistance of the compressor windings and fan motor. Very low resistance or continuity to ground indicates a shorted motor that must be replaced.
- Control board check: Inspect the board for burnt relays or components in the high-current paths. Replace the board if damage is visible or if it continues to trip with known-good loads.
- Professional service: For compressor or sealed system electrical faults, contact an authorized technician.
