• Locate ambient sensor: Find the thermistor usually mounted near the air intake or inside the cabinet away from the evaporator.
• Check mounting: Ensure the sensor is properly clipped or secured in its bracket and not touching very cold or hot surfaces that could skew readings.
• Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor leads to the control board, checking for cuts, pinches, or loose connectors.
• Measure resistance: With the sensor disconnected, measure resistance and compare to Hansa's temperature-resistance chart. Replace if readings are open, shorted, or far off spec.
• Control board evaluation: If the sensor is good but E17 remains, the control board's sensor circuit may be defective and require replacement.
