Possible Causes
Misaligned door switch actuator, Failed magnetic reed switch or micro-switch, Broken switch bracket, Disconnected switch wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before adjusting switches.
- Locate door switch: Identify the switch near the bin door or top lid. It may be a plunger-style micro-switch or a magnetic reed sensor.
- Check alignment: Ensure the door or lid fully engages the switch when closed. Adjust the door hinges or switch bracket so the actuator is fully depressed or the magnet is properly aligned.
- Test switch: Disconnect the switch and check continuity while opening and closing the door. Replace if it does not change state reliably.
- Inspect wiring: Verify the switch harness is intact and firmly connected to the control board.
- Re-test operation: After repair, close the door firmly and confirm that the E18 code clears and the unit starts a cycle.
