Possible Causes
Failed evaporator thermistor, Loose or corroded thermistor connector, Damaged thermistor wiring harness, Control board misreading sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal components.
- Access the evaporator area: Remove the front or side service panel according to the Hansa service layout. Locate the thermistor clipped to or near the evaporator plate/grid.
- Inspect wiring and connector: Check for corrosion, moisture intrusion, or loose pins at the thermistor plug. Dry any condensation and reseat the connector firmly.
- Check sensor placement: Ensure the thermistor is firmly attached to the evaporator surface in the factory position. A loose sensor can misread temperature and stop the cycle prematurely.
- Test thermistor resistance: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the thermistor and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to Hansa specifications for the measured temperature (typically several kΩ at room temperature). Replace if readings are open, shorted, or far out of range.
- Control board check: If the thermistor tests good but the error persists, inspect the control board for burnt traces or corrosion at the sensor input. Replacement of the main PCB may be required.
