Possible Causes
Failed condenser fan motor, Obstructed fan blades, Faulty fan motor capacitor (if used), Damaged fan wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing the rear or bottom compartment.
- Inspect fan area: Remove the rear or bottom service panel. Check for dust, plastic wrap, or debris blocking the condenser fan blades. Clear any obstructions.
- Spin test: Gently spin the fan by hand. If it is stiff or seized, the motor bearings are likely failed and the motor should be replaced.
- Check wiring: Inspect the fan motor connector and wiring harness for loose connections or heat damage. Reseat connectors firmly.
- Test motor: With the unit unplugged, measure motor winding resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Replace with a compatible Hansa condenser fan motor.
- Capacitor (if present): Some motors use a run capacitor. If the motor hums but will start when spun by hand, test and replace the capacitor as needed.
