How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before removing panels or handling wiring.

  • Locate the evaporator sensor: Remove the rear or side panel to access the evaporator plate/coil. The sensor is usually clipped or strapped to the evaporator surface with two wires leading to the control board.
  • Inspect the sensor and wiring: Look for broken insulation, corrosion, or a sensor that has fallen off the evaporator. Reattach it firmly with the original clip or thermal tape.
  • Test the sensor: Disconnect the sensor from the harness and measure its resistance with a multimeter. Compare the reading to the Hisense service chart (typically 5–20 kΩ depending on temperature). If reading is open, shorted, or far out of spec, replace the sensor.
  • Check connector at PCB: Ensure the sensor plug is fully seated on the main control board and pins are not bent or corroded.
  • Replace sensor: If wiring is intact and resistance is incorrect, install a new Hisense evaporator NTC sensor and route the wires away from sharp edges and hot components.
  • Control board check: If a known-good sensor still triggers E3, the temperature input circuit on the main PCB may be defective and the board should be replaced.
