Possible Causes

Blocked condenser airflow, Dirty condenser coils, Failed condenser fan motor, Faulty high-temperature sensor or thermal fuse

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the ice maker and allow hot components to cool before working near the compressor or condenser.

  • Check ventilation: Ensure the Hisense ice maker has the required clearance on all sides and is not installed in a confined cabinet without airflow.
  • Clean condenser coils: Access the rear or bottom of the unit and use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint from the condenser coils.
  • Inspect condenser fan: Verify the fan spins freely by hand and is not obstructed by debris. Plug the unit in briefly and confirm the fan runs when the compressor starts. Replace the fan motor if it does not run or is noisy.
  • Check high-temp sensor or thermal fuse: Locate the thermal sensor or fuse near the compressor or condenser. Test continuity with a multimeter. Replace if open or out of spec.
  • Reset and test: After cleaning and repairs, unplug for 5 minutes, then restart the unit and monitor for E4. If the error returns despite good airflow and components, the main control board may be misreading temperature and require replacement.
