Possible Causes
Failed compressor start relay or PTC, Open overload protector, Low line voltage, Locked or failing compressor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. The compressor and surrounding components can be hot; allow them to cool.
- Check supply voltage: Use a multimeter to confirm the outlet voltage is within the specified range for the Hisense unit.
- Access compressor terminals: Remove the rear lower panel to expose the compressor, start relay/PTC, and overload protector.
- Inspect start components: Remove the relay and overload from the compressor pins. Look for burn marks, rattling pieces inside the relay, or melted plastic.
- Test continuity: Use a multimeter to check continuity through the overload and appropriate resistance through the PTC relay. Replace any open or shorted components.
- Check compressor windings: Measure resistance between C-R, C-S, and R-S terminals. If readings are out of range or windings are shorted to ground, the compressor is likely failed.
- Replace parts: Install a new Hisense-compatible start relay and overload protector if they are defective. If the compressor is locked or electrically failed, professional sealed-system service or replacement is required.
