Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug before touching internal components. Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system yourself.
Steps:
- Check temperature: After 15–20 minutes of operation, carefully feel near the evaporator/ice tray area (without touching moving parts). It should be very cold. If it remains warm, cooling is not occurring.
- Listen for compressor: The compressor should run with a low hum and slight vibration. If silent or clicking repeatedly, there may be a start or compressor issue.
- Inspect condenser fan (if equipped): Ensure the fan runs when the compressor is on and that coils are clean.
- Verify ambient conditions: Use the unit within the recommended room temperature range; very hot rooms can severely reduce ice output.
Service note: No cooling with a running compressor often indicates a sealed-system problem (refrigerant leak, restriction, or compressor failure). These require specialized tools and must be handled by an EPA-certified refrigeration technician.
