How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Hoover ice maker from the mains before removing any panels. Do not work on live circuits.

  • Power reset: Unplug the unit for 10 minutes, then plug back in. Check if E1 clears. Sometimes a surge or brownout can lock the control.
  • Check outlet and cord: Verify the wall socket has 220–240 V AC (or local standard) using a meter. Inspect the Hoover power cord for cuts, burns, or kinks. Replace the cord set if damaged.
  • Inspect control connections: Remove the rear or top service panel (depending on model). Locate the main control PCB and the display/user interface board. Reseat all multi‑pin connectors firmly; look for bent pins, corrosion, or heat marks.
  • Check low‑voltage output: With power restored and extreme caution, measure the DC output from the control board to the display (often 5 V or 12 V DC; refer to Hoover service sheet). If no DC output is present, the main PCB is likely faulty.
  • Visual PCB inspection: Look for burnt components, bulged capacitors, or cracked solder joints on the main control board. If present, the board should be replaced rather than repaired in‑home.
  • Replace suspect board: If wiring is intact and voltages are missing or unstable, replace the main control PCB with the exact Hoover part number for your model. Transfer any jumper settings exactly as on the original.

If you are not comfortable working around live mains voltage, contact a qualified Hoover service technician.
