Failed circulation pump,Blocked pump impeller or water line,Air lock in circulation system,Loose wiring to pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before working on the water system.
- Access circulation pump: Remove the ice bin and internal panels to locate the small water pump that circulates water over the evaporator plate or into the ice tray.
- Check for obstructions: Inspect the pump inlet and outlet for scale, slime, or debris. Clean the pump housing and lines with warm water and a food‑safe descaler.
- Test pump operation: With the pump removed or exposed, briefly power the unit (if safe) and listen/feel for pump operation. If the pump hums but does not move water, the impeller may be jammed or the pump air‑locked.
- Bleed air: Fill the reservoir to the correct level and tilt the unit slightly to help purge air from the pump and lines. Restart the cycle.
- Electrical test: Unplug the unit, disconnect the pump, and measure coil resistance. Replace the Hoover circulation pump if open or shorted.
- Replace pump: If cleaning and bleeding do not restore flow, install a new circulation pump assembly and ensure all hoses are securely clamped.
