Possible Causes
Failed touch control panel,Moisture ingress behind keypad,Loose ribbon cable between UI and main PCB,Cracked display board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance before removing the front control panel.
- Dry the control area: If condensation or a spill has occurred, allow the unit to dry completely. Wipe the control panel with a dry cloth.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the front bezel to access the user interface board. Check the flat ribbon cable or harness connecting it to the main PCB. Reseat both ends firmly.
- Check for corrosion: Look for green/white corrosion on connectors or the UI board. Light corrosion can sometimes be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush.
- Test button response: With the panel reconnected, power the unit and test each button. If some buttons work and others do not, the keypad membrane or capacitive touch IC may be faulty.
- Replace UI board: If E12 persists and physical damage or corrosion is evident, replace the Hoover user interface/control panel assembly with the correct part.
