Possible Causes

Leaking water inlet valve or hose,Cracked internal water reservoir,Loose hose clamp on circulation or drain line,Base pan leak float switch activated

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit and turn off the water supply immediately to prevent further leakage.

  • Remove panels: Take off the rear and/or side panels to access the base pan. Use towels to soak up any standing water.
  • Locate leak source: With the water supply briefly turned on (and power still off), observe all hoses, the inlet valve, reservoir, and pump connections for drips. Tighten hose clamps and replace any cracked hoses.
  • Inspect reservoir: Check the Hoover water tank or sump for hairline cracks or seam leaks. Replace the reservoir if damaged.
  • Check leak float switch: Many models have a small float switch in the base pan. Ensure it moves freely and is not stuck in the up (alarm) position. Clean any scale or slime.
  • Dry thoroughly: After repairs, completely dry the base pan and float switch area. Leave panels off for several hours to ensure no residual moisture remains before restoring power.
