Possible Causes

Closed or low‑pressure water supply,Clogged inlet screen on Hoover water valve,Failed water inlet solenoid valve,Defective water inlet wiring or control output

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the ice maker and close the water supply valve before servicing.

  • Check water supply: Ensure the household shut‑off valve is fully open. Verify that the supply hose is not kinked or frozen. Run water from the supply line into a bucket to confirm good flow.
  • Inspect inlet filter screen: Disconnect the water line from the Hoover inlet valve. Remove and clean the small mesh filter screen inside the valve fitting. Rinse away sediment and reinstall.
  • Test inlet valve coil: Disconnect the valve’s electrical connector and measure coil resistance. Compare to Hoover’s specification. Replace the valve if the coil is open or shorted.
  • Check for voltage during fill: With the unit in a fill cycle (and using extreme caution with live voltage), measure for mains voltage at the valve connector. If voltage is present but no water flows, the valve is faulty. If no voltage is present, suspect the control board or wiring.
  • Replace water inlet valve: Install a new Hoover water inlet valve assembly if the original is defective. Use new sealing washers and check for leaks after turning the water back on.
