Possible Causes
Failed compressor,Severe refrigerant leak,Blocked capillary tube,Non‑running condenser fan causing high pressure cutout
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before removing panels. Sealed system repairs require a certified refrigeration technician.
- Check temperature: After 30–60 minutes of operation, feel the evaporator plate or ice tray. It should be very cold and may frost. If it is only cool or room temperature, cooling is inadequate.
- Inspect condenser and fan: Clean the condenser coil and confirm the fan runs with the compressor. Replace the fan motor if it does not run when powered.
- Listen to compressor: If the compressor is silent or only clicks, test and replace the start relay/PTC as needed. If the compressor still will not start, it may be failed.
- Call a professional: If the compressor runs but there is no frost pattern or only a small patch of frost, the system may be low on refrigerant or restricted. Contact a Hoover‑authorized technician for sealed system diagnosis.
