Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power and close the water supply valve before servicing the water system.
- Check water supply: Confirm the water shutoff valve to the ice maker is fully open. Inspect the external water filter for clogs; replace if older than 6–12 months. Ensure the supply line is not kinked.
- Inspect water inlet screen: Remove the inlet line at the water valve and check for debris in the valve screen. Clean gently with a soft brush.
- Clean the float switch: Remove the front panel and locate the water reservoir and float switch assembly. Carefully remove the float switch. Clean scale and slime from the float and shaft using a nickel-safe ice machine cleaner and warm water. Ensure the float moves freely up and down.
- Check float switch operation: With a multimeter, test continuity of the float switch while moving it through its range. It should open and close reliably. Replace if intermittent or open.
- Reassemble and reset: Reinstall the float switch, restore water and power, and reset the unit. Observe the fill cycle to ensure the reservoir fills to the correct level.
When to call a technician: If the 3-beep code returns after cleaning and verifying water supply, the float switch circuit on the control board or wiring harness may be faulty.
