Unit stops mid-cycle; control board beeps seven times repeatedly

Safety First: Disconnect power and shut off water before servicing. Do not attempt to open refrigerant lines.

• Clean the evaporator: Heavy scale on the evaporator plate can prevent cubes from releasing. Follow Hoshizaki’s descaling procedure using a nickel-safe ice machine cleaner. Circulate cleaner through the water system and scrub the plate with a soft brush.
• Check hot gas valve coil: Locate the hot gas solenoid valve in the refrigeration compartment. Inspect wiring and connectors. With power off, measure coil resistance and compare to specifications. Replace the coil if open or shorted.
• Inspect harvest assist mechanism (if equipped): Some models use a harvest assist plunger or motor. Ensure it moves freely and is not obstructed by ice or scale. Clean and lubricate per manufacturer guidelines.
• Verify thermistor/switch: Test the harvest thermistor or harvest termination switch for proper resistance or continuity. Replace if readings are out of spec.
• Reset and test: After cleaning and component checks, reset the unit and observe a full freeze and harvest cycle to confirm cubes release properly.

When to call a technician: If harvest remains incomplete despite a clean evaporator and good components, there may be a sealed system issue affecting hot gas flow.
