Unit stops; control board beeps nine times repeatedly

Safety First: Disconnect power before working on the drain system. Water may be hot; wear gloves.

• Inspect external drain line: Check the drain hose for kinks, sags, or clogs. Ensure the hose runs downhill with no traps that can hold water.
• Clean pump inlet and screen: Remove the front panel and locate the drain pump assembly. Remove any debris from the pump inlet and internal screen.
• Check pump operation: With power restored briefly, listen for the pump running during drain. If it hums but does not move water, the impeller may be jammed or the pump may be failing.
• Test pump windings: Disconnect power, remove pump connectors, and measure motor winding resistance. Replace the pump if open or shorted.
• Verify check valve: Ensure any check valve in the drain line is not stuck closed. Clean or replace if necessary.

When to call a technician: If the 9-beep code persists after clearing the drain and verifying pump operation, the pump pressure switch or control board may be faulty.
