H1
Hoshizaki High Ambient Temperature Warning

Display shows H1; unit continues to run but with reduced performance

Possible Causes

Installation in room above rated ambient temperature, Blocked ventilation around unit, Heat sources near ice maker (ovens, dishwashers), Dirty condenser coil

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Disconnect power before cleaning condenser or moving the unit.

  • Check room temperature: Measure ambient temperature around the ice maker. Compare to Hoshizaki’s maximum ambient rating (often around 100°F/38°C). If exceeded, improve room cooling or relocate the unit.
  • Improve ventilation: Ensure required clearances on sides, back, and top. Remove any items blocking air inlets or outlets.
  • Clean condenser: Thoroughly clean the condenser coil to improve heat rejection.
  • Reduce nearby heat sources: If the unit is next to hot equipment, add heat shields or increase separation.

When to call a technician: If H1 persists in a properly cooled and ventilated space, the temperature sensing or control logic may need evaluation.
