Possible Causes

Stuck drain pump relay on control board, Failed drain pump motor, Faulty drain level sensor, Blocked drain hose causing sensor misread

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before working on the drain system. Water may spill; have towels ready.

  • Inspect drain hose: Check the external drain hose for kinks, clogs, or improper elevation. Clear any obstructions and ensure the hose slopes downward to the drain.
  • Access drain pump: Remove the lower rear or bottom panel to locate the drain pump assembly.
  • Check for debris: Remove the pump inlet cover (if accessible) and clear any ice chips or debris that may jam the impeller.
  • Test pump: With a meter, check resistance across the pump motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a bad pump. Also check for leaks around the pump housing.
  • Replace pump or sensor: If the pump is defective or the drain level sensor is not reading correctly, replace the faulty component with an OEM Hotpoint part.

If E11 remains after pump and hose checks, the control board drain circuit may be stuck and require replacement.
