Possible Causes
Dirty or blocked ice full sensor, Failed optical emitter/receiver, Misaligned sensor brackets
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before cleaning or adjusting sensors.
- Locate full sensor: Many Hotpoint ice makers use an optical sensor pair near the top of the bin opening.
- Clean sensor lenses: Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with warm water to clean both the emitter and receiver windows. Dry thoroughly.
- Check alignment: Ensure both sides of the sensor are directly facing each other and not bent out of position.
- Inspect wiring: Reseat connectors and check for damaged wires leading to the control board.
- Replace sensor: If the sensor housing is cracked, water-damaged, or still not detected by the control, replace the ice full sensor kit.
Restore power and test by filling and emptying the bin to confirm proper full detection and that E15 clears.
