Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker and close the water supply valve before disconnecting any hoses.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Confirm water supply: Ensure the household shutoff valve feeding the IceKing unit is fully open. If connected via a saddle valve, verify it is not clogged or partially closed.
- 2. Inspect water line: Follow the water line from the wall to the back of the ice maker. Look for kinks, sharp bends, or crushing. Straighten or replace the line if damaged.
- 3. Check for freezing: If the unit is in a cold area, the inlet tube inside the cabinet may freeze. Allow the unit to sit unplugged with the door open for several hours or use a hair dryer on low setting to gently warm the inlet area (do not overheat plastic parts).
- 4. Clean inlet valve screen: Disconnect the water line from the water inlet valve at the back of the unit. Inside the valve fitting there is often a small mesh screen. Rinse debris under running water and reinstall.
- 5. Test water flow: Briefly open the supply valve with the line disconnected and direct water into a bucket to confirm strong flow from the house plumbing.
- 6. Evaluate inlet valve: If water supply and line are good but E2 persists, the water inlet valve coil may be faulty. The valve typically must be replaced as a complete assembly.
When to call a technician: If you are not comfortable disconnecting water lines or if there are signs of internal leaks, contact a professional to replace the water inlet valve and check for water damage.
