Possible Causes

Faulty low-voltage transformer on control board, Defective start relay on compressor circuit, Failed main PCB logic, Loose wiring harness to compressor or fan

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before removing panels. Use insulated tools and avoid touching capacitor terminals.

  • 1. Confirm mode and settings: Ensure the Iceman unit is not in cleaning or standby mode. Set to normal ice-making mode and wait at least 5–10 minutes to see if the compressor attempts to start.
  • 2. Listen for relay click: With the cover on and power applied, listen for a click from the control board or compressor area when the unit should start. No click may indicate a control or relay issue.
  • 3. Inspect wiring harness: Unplug the unit, remove the rear or side panel, and check the harness connections to the compressor, condenser fan motor, and main PCB. Reseat any loose connectors.
  • 4. Test compressor start relay (if separate): Some Iceman models use a plug-on start relay/overload. Remove it from the compressor terminals and shake gently; if it rattles or smells burnt, replace the start relay/overload assembly.
  • 5. Check low-voltage output: With a multimeter and extreme caution, measure the low-voltage output from the main PCB transformer (often 12–24 VDC) to the control/display. If missing, the board is defective and should be replaced.

Note: If the compressor is receiving proper voltage but does not start or hums and trips, the compressor itself may be failing and requires professional service.
