Possible Causes
Clogged drain hose, Failed drain pump motor, Blocked internal drain port, Kinked or improperly routed drain line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the Iceman ice maker before accessing the drain pump or hoses.
- 1. Inspect external drain hose: Check that the drain hose from the back or base of the unit is not kinked, elevated too high, or submerged in standing water. Straighten and reroute as needed.
- 2. Clear clogs: Disconnect the drain hose from the unit and run water through it at a sink. Use a flexible brush or pipe cleaner to remove any scale or debris.
- 3. Check internal drain port: Open the ice bin and locate the internal drain opening in the sump or reservoir. Remove any ice, scale, or foreign objects blocking the port.
- 4. Test drain pump: Access the drain pump (usually at the base). Inspect for broken impeller blades or obstructions. Spin the impeller by hand; it should move freely. Test the pump coil for continuity. If open or seized, replace the drain pump assembly.
- 5. Run a test cycle: Reassemble, restore power and water, and run a cleaning or ice-making cycle to confirm proper draining and that the E04 code clears.
Tip: Regular descaling with an approved ice machine cleaner helps prevent drain blockages from mineral buildup.
