Possible Causes
Failed hot gas solenoid valve, Blocked hot gas line, Faulty harvest thermostat or sensor, Control board harvest relay failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker before accessing internal components. Hot gas lines can be very hot during operation.
- 1. Observe harvest behavior: During a cycle, the unit should briefly warm the evaporator to release ice. If ice never loosens, suspect a harvest system issue.
- 2. Check harvest sensor/thermostat: Locate the harvest thermostat or sensor on the evaporator. Ensure it is properly attached and wiring is intact. Test for continuity or correct resistance at the specified temperature.
- 3. Inspect hot gas valve coil: Find the hot gas solenoid valve in the sealed system piping. With power off, check coil resistance. An open coil indicates failure; replace the valve coil or entire valve assembly as specified by Iceman.
- 4. Listen for valve activation: During harvest, you should hear a click from the valve. If the control is sending voltage but the valve does not open, replace the valve.
- 5. Control board check: If the valve and sensor test good but E10 persists, the harvest relay on the main PCB may be defective. Replace the main PCB.
Note: Work on sealed system piping (brazing, refrigerant) must be done by a licensed refrigeration technician.
