Possible Causes
Damaged touch control panel, Loose ribbon cable between UI and main PCB, Moisture intrusion behind control panel, Failed UI control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker before removing the control panel bezel.
- 1. Dry the panel: If condensation or water has splashed onto the control, wipe it dry and allow the unit to sit unplugged for several hours to dry internally.
- 2. Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the front control panel cover to access the keypad or touch board. Ensure the ribbon cable is fully seated at both the UI and main PCB ends.
- 3. Check for corrosion: Look for green/white corrosion on connectors or the UI board. Light corrosion can sometimes be cleaned with contact cleaner; heavy corrosion usually requires replacement.
- 4. Test button function (if possible): Some Iceman models have a diagnostic mode that shows button presses. Enter diagnostics per the service manual and verify each key registers. If not, replace the user interface board or touch panel.
- 5. Seal against moisture: When reinstalling, ensure any gaskets or seals are properly seated to prevent future moisture intrusion.
