Possible Causes
Open or shorted cabinet thermistor, Disconnected sensor harness, Sensor out of position, Failed main PCB sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing internal wiring.
- 1. Locate ambient sensor: The cabinet or ambient thermistor is usually mounted near the air intake or inside wall of the ice bin area. Refer to the Iceman service diagram.
- 2. Inspect mounting: Ensure the sensor is properly clipped in place and not dangling or touching hot components.
- 3. Check wiring: Follow the sensor leads to the control board. Reseat connectors and look for damaged insulation.
- 4. Measure resistance: At room temperature, measure the thermistor resistance and compare to the Iceman spec chart. Replace the sensor if readings are far off or show open/short.
- 5. Control board evaluation: If a known-good sensor still results in E13, the sensor input circuit on the main PCB may be defective. Replace the main PCB.
