Possible Causes
Dirty ice thickness probe, Misadjusted thickness sensor, Broken thickness adjustment screw, Failed thickness sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before working near the evaporator and water distribution system.
- 1. Identify thickness probe: On many Iceman models, a metal probe or plastic sensor bar sits in front of the evaporator grid to measure ice thickness.
- 2. Clean the probe: Mineral scale can insulate the probe. Use a manufacturer-approved ice machine cleaner and a soft brush to remove buildup. Rinse thoroughly.
- 3. Check adjustment: Some probes have an adjustment screw or bracket. Verify it is not loose or broken and that the probe is positioned per the service manual.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Ensure the probe’s harness is intact and firmly connected to the control board.
- 5. Replace sensor: If cleaning and adjustment do not resolve E14 and ice thickness remains erratic, replace the ice thickness sensor/probe assembly.
Tip: After adjustment, monitor several cycles to confirm consistent cube size or slab thickness.
