Possible Causes

Failed cleaning/rinse solenoid valve, Blocked cleaning solution line, Control board cleaning program error, Faulty mode selector switch

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit and drain any chemicals before servicing. Wear gloves and eye protection when handling ice machine cleaner.

  • 1. Reset cycle: Cancel the cleaning cycle per the user manual and unplug the unit for 5 minutes. Restart and attempt the cycle again.
  • 2. Check cleaning valve: Locate the dedicated cleaning or rinse solenoid valve (if equipped). Inspect for kinks or blockages in the line. Clean or replace as needed.
  • 3. Verify mode switch: If your Iceman model uses a physical switch to select CLEAN vs ICE, test the switch for proper operation with a multimeter. Replace if intermittent.
  • 4. Inspect control board: If the valve and switch are good but E16 persists, the cleaning program on the main PCB may be corrupted. Replace the main PCB.
  • 5. Manual flush: As a temporary measure, manually drain and refill the reservoir several times with fresh water to remove residual cleaner before returning to ice-making mode.
