Possible Causes
Empty water reservoir, clogged water inlet screen, stuck water level float, faulty water level sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning the reservoir or removing any internal parts.
- Refill reservoir: Open the lid and fill the water reservoir to the indicated MAX line with clean, cold water. Do not overfill.
- Check for leaks: If the reservoir empties quickly without making ice, inspect for leaks around the drain plug and internal tubing.
- Clean the reservoir and float: Drain any remaining water. Wipe the reservoir with a soft cloth and a mixture of water and white vinegar. Clean around the float or water level probes to remove scale or slime that can cause false low-water readings.
- Inspect the drain plug: Ensure the bottom drain cap is fully tightened and the gasket is intact so water does not slowly leak out.
- Reset the unit: After cleaning and refilling, plug the unit back in and press the power button to restart. The 'ADD WATER' message should clear.
- Sensor replacement: If the indicator remains on even with a full reservoir and a free-moving float, the water level sensor or float switch may be faulty and should be replaced with an Igloo-compatible part.
