Possible Causes
Elapsed cleaning timer, mineral scale on water system components, dirty sensors causing false detection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before performing a deep clean. Do not immerse the entire unit in water.
- Run cleaning cycle (if available): Many Igloo models have a dedicated CLEAN button. Fill the reservoir with a mixture of water and white vinegar (1:1), press and hold CLEAN per the manual, and let the cycle run.
- Manual cleaning: Drain the unit. Wipe the reservoir, ice tray, and water distribution components with a soft cloth soaked in vinegar solution. Remove visible scale from the evaporator and tray, but do not use sharp tools.
- Flush with fresh water: After descaling, drain and refill with clean water. Run at least one full cycle and discard the first batch of ice.
- Reset indicator: On some models, pressing and holding the CLEAN or POWER button for several seconds after cleaning will reset the 'CLEAN' light. Refer to your model’s instructions.
- Prevent future buildup: Use filtered or distilled water to reduce mineral deposits and clean the unit regularly according to the Igloo manual.
