Possible Causes
Room temperature too high, blocked ventilation, condenser fan not running, unit placed near heat source
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit if it feels excessively hot or has a burning smell.
- Relocate the unit: Move the Igloo ice maker to a cooler area away from ovens, dishwashers, or direct sunlight. Ideal ambient temperature is typically 50–100°F (10–38°C).
- Improve airflow: Ensure at least several inches of clearance on all sides and the back. Do not operate inside cabinets or tight corners.
- Clean vents and condenser: With the unit unplugged, vacuum or brush dust from all air vents and the condenser coil at the back or bottom.
- Check condenser fan (if equipped): Remove the rear panel and verify the fan spins freely by hand. If seized or noisy, replace the fan motor.
- Cool-down period: Leave the unit unplugged for 30–60 minutes to allow internal temperatures to drop, then restart.
- Persistent H1: If the error returns quickly in a cool, well-ventilated area, the ambient temperature sensor or control board may be faulty and require replacement.
