Possible Causes
Blocked ice full sensor, misaligned infrared emitter/receiver, failed ice full sensor board, stuck mechanical ice level arm (on some models)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before reaching near sensors or removing panels.
- Empty and reseat basket: Remove the ice basket, empty any remaining ice, and reinstall it properly. Ensure it is seated flat and not pushing against the sensor area.
- Clean the sensor window: On many Igloo models, the ice full sensor is an infrared pair located near the top of the ice bin. Wipe the small plastic windows with a soft, damp cloth to remove frost, dust, or mineral film.
- Check for obstructions: Make sure no ice pieces or plastic parts are blocking the sensor path or holding a mechanical ice level arm in the “full” position.
- Inspect sensor alignment: If you can access the sensor boards (usually behind side panels), verify that the emitter and receiver are directly facing each other and not bent out of position.
- Test operation: Plug the unit back in and start a cycle. As ice accumulates, confirm that the 'ICE FULL' indicator only comes on when the basket is truly full.
- Replace faulty sensor: If the indicator remains on with an empty bin and clean windows, replace the ice full sensor assembly or infrared sensor boards with Igloo-compatible parts.
