Igloo
Insufficient Freeze Time / Poor Heat Transfer
Ice cubes are very small, hollow, or melt quickly in the basket.

Possible Causes
Short freeze cycle timing, scale buildup on evaporator, warm inlet water, ambient temperature too high
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning the evaporator or internal parts.
- Use colder water: Fill the reservoir with cold water from the refrigerator rather than warm tap water.
- Lower room temperature: Move the unit to a cooler room away from heat sources.
- Descale evaporator: Run a cleaning cycle with a vinegar solution or manually wipe the evaporator fingers with a soft cloth soaked in descaler. Scale acts as insulation and reduces ice size.
- Allow full cycles: Let the unit run for several cycles. Many Igloo ice makers produce smaller cubes initially that increase in size after the system stabilizes.
- Check for fan and compressor issues: If ice remains small despite cleaning and good conditions, inspect the condenser fan and compressor performance as described in other entries.
