Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before investigating any unusual noises. Moving parts can cause injury.

• Identify noise source: Listen carefully to determine if the noise comes from the top (tray area) or back/bottom (fan/compressor area).
• Inspect tray area: Open the lid and look for broken ice pieces, plastic fragments, or misaligned parts around the ice tray and evaporator. Remove any foreign objects.
• Check tray motor and gears: Remove the side panel to access the tray drive. Look for cracked gears or loose screws. Tighten any loose fasteners.
• Inspect condenser fan: At the back, ensure the fan blades are not rubbing against the shroud or wiring. Gently bend the shroud or reposition wires if needed.
• Replace worn parts: If gears are stripped or the motor is noisy, replace the ice tray motor/gear assembly or condenser fan motor as appropriate.
