Unit powers on, fans run, but no ice is produced; evaporator does not get cold.

Safety first: Unplug the unit before touching the compressor or electrical components. The compressor can be very hot.

• Listen for compressor: When starting a cycle, listen at the back of the unit. A healthy compressor will hum quietly. If you only hear fans, the compressor may not be starting.
• Check for clicking: Repeated clicking from the compressor area can indicate a failed start relay or overload protector.
• Inspect wiring: With the unit unplugged, remove the rear panel and inspect the compressor start relay and overload device. Ensure connectors are tight and not burnt.
• Replace start relay/overload: If the relay housing is cracked, burnt, or rattles when shaken, replace the compressor start relay and overload assembly with a compatible Igloo part.
• Test after replacement: Reassemble, plug in, and run a cycle. If the compressor still does not start or quickly overheats, the compressor or sealed system may be faulty and requires a professional technician.
