Possible Causes
Stuck water level float, blocked level sensor port, failed water level sensor, stuck water inlet valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and shut off the water supply immediately to stop flooding.
- Inspect water reservoir: Remove the ice bin and locate the water reservoir or sump. Look for a plastic float or sensor housing. Ensure the float moves freely up and down; clean any scale or debris that may cause sticking.
- Clean sensor ports: If the unit uses a pressure or optical level sensor, clean the sensor window or pressure tube with warm water and mild detergent. Do not scratch optical lenses.
- Check water inlet valve for sticking: With water off and power disconnected, remove the water inlet valve. Inspect for mineral buildup or debris preventing full closure. If the valve leaks water even when de-energized, replace the valve.
- Test level sensor: Disconnect the level sensor harness and measure resistance or voltage according to the service manual (if available). If readings are out of range, replace the water level sensor assembly.
- Dry and reset: Mop up any standing water, reinstall components, restore water and power, and run a test cycle to confirm proper fill and shutoff.
