Possible Causes
Cracked water reservoir, loose hose clamp, leaking water inlet valve body, blocked drain causing overflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker and shut off the water supply immediately. Avoid standing in water while working.
- Inspect base pan: Remove the lower front or rear panel and look for water in the base. Many Ikea ice makers have a float switch in the base that triggers E15 when water is present. Mop up all water and dry the area.
- Check hoses and clamps: Follow all water lines from the inlet valve to the reservoir and distribution tube. Tighten any loose clamps and replace cracked hoses.
- Examine reservoir and fittings: Inspect the plastic water reservoir for hairline cracks, especially at seams and connection points. Replace the reservoir if any leaks are found.
- Inspect inlet valve body: Look for drips from the valve housing when water is on. Replace the water inlet valve if it leaks even when not energized.
- Clear drains: Ensure the drain port and hose are not blocked, which can cause overflow into the base.
- Reset leak sensor: Once the source is repaired and the base is completely dry, restore power and water. The error should clear automatically or after a power cycle.
