Possible Causes
Defective fan motor tach sensor, obstructed fan, loose fan connector, control board speed sensing failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before touching any fan or wiring.
- Inspect fan blades: Access the affected fan (condenser or evaporator). Remove any debris or ice buildup. Ensure the blade is not cracked or rubbing on shrouds.
- Check wiring: Reseat the fan connector on both the motor and control board. Look for damaged wires, especially near moving parts.
- Replace fan motor: If the fan runs erratically or the tachometer signal is missing (open tach lead), replace the fan motor with the correct Ikea-compatible part.
- Control board: If a new fan still triggers E17, the control board’s speed sensing circuit may be defective and require replacement.
